Mammoth Mammoth

Mammoth Mammoth (often stylized as MAMMOTH MAMMOTH) is an Australian hard rock/stoner rock band, formed in 2007 in Melbourne, consisting of vocalist Mikey Tucker, guitarist Ben Couzens (Cuz), bassist Pete Bell and drummer Frank Trobbiani (Bones).
They independently released their self-titled debut EP in June 2008 through their label, Golden Triangle, followed by the full-length album "Volume II: Mammoth" in August 2009.
In November 2012, their third album ''Volume III: Hell’s Likely'' was released, and after good sales in Europe they were approached and signed by the Austrian label Napalm Records.〔Staff writers. ("Australian fuzz-rockers, MAMMOTH MAMMOTH officially ink a worldwide deal with Austria’s Napalm Records." ) ''May The Rock Be With You'', Australia, September 14, 2012. Retrieved on November 10, 2014.〕
Mammoth Mammoth’s sound has been likened to “Motorhead doing mushrooms with Black Sabbath at a Butt Hole Surfers concert.”〔Di Gotta, Sen. () "Artist: Mammoth Mammoth"] ''The Mayfair Mall Zine'', January 16, 2013. Retrieved on November 10, 2014.〕
The band is well known for its raucous live shows, with (Heavy Magazine Australia ) noting that “their live reputation precedes them” and that lead singer “Mikey Tucker knows no boundaries and goes in hard every time; throwing himself off the stage and throughout the crowd.”〔Moore, Anthony. "Mammoth Mammoth The Devil Rides Out" ''Heavy Magazine'', Australia, June 13, 2012.〕
Mammoth Mammoth was banned from performing at two music venues in Melbourne. According to an interview in the blog, Riff media,at the Tote, Tucker head-butted a glass window to get the attention of punters smoking outside, falling through it. He then continued the show covered in blood.〔Riane, Adam. ("Mammoth Mammoth Interview" ) ''Riff Interviews'', March 10, 2013. Retrieved on November 10, 2014.〕
==Background and name==

"MAMMOTH MAMMOTH are a heavy rock band from Melbourne Australia that smash the shit out of their stoner, glam, doom, punk and psychedelic rock influences."〔http://www.mammothmammoth.com/info.php〕 Mammoth Mammoth was originally formed by Couzens and Sweet due to their differences with the Melbourne rock scene, viewing it as being full of “shoe-gazing indie-rock bands doing very little to entertain or commit.”〔Thesses, Frank. "Dickes Fell" ''Metal Hammer Germany Magazine'', 2012.〕 The desire to have a band with the "biggest" name they could think of, led to the band being named Mammoth Mammoth, derived from the woolly mammoth.〔Wosgien, Markus. ("Mammoth Mammoth" ) ''EMP Germany'', 2012. Link expired.〕
Couzens and Trobbiani were past members of Melbourne rock band Furious Dragon Love. While members of Furious Dragon Love, Couzens played on the side with friend and fellow band member Gareth "Gash" Sweet, a bassist. Tucker was recruited to join the group as lead singer when his group, Black Fang, broke up. With Couzens playing guitar, Trobbiani on drums, "Gash" on bass, and Tucker as vocalist, the four-piece became Mammoth Mammoth.〔http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Mammoth_Mammoth/3540275735〕
